DUNE: PROPHECY S1 (2024)

Client: Image Engine Design
VFX Supervisor: Martin Culpitt
Role: VFX Concept Design
For Dune: Prophecy, I was responsible for conceptual design and art on several key sequences, helping shape the series futuristic, yet grounded visual effects. I worked closely with the VFX Supervisor on creating designs that hopefully integrated into the established Dune universe.
Key Contributions:
Bull: A genetically engineered beast with natural armor running from its snout, over its head, and down its spine.
Spice Harvester: A “hotrod” inspired redesign of the film version, featuring an angled sand ejector for greater efficiency.
Battlefield Robot: A heavily armored mech, armed with blue laser weaponry, seen in the opening shots.
Junkyard: A massive smelting facility for recycling the ruins of war, giving it a unique industrial feel.
Lake Sequence: A vast, atmospheric setting, with cracks resembling the mouth of a Shi’ alud, adding an eerie, prophetic undertone.
Anirul: A living computer embedded within a cavernous environment, processing streams of data in an immersive, almost organic way.
Each design was crafted to honor the rich lore of Frank Herbert’s universe and director Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part One & Part Two, while introducing fresh, cinematic elements that hopefully elevate the world of Dune.
